Driver Runs Red Light and Collides With Clovis Police Officer
CLOVIS, CA (January 14, 2024) – A Clovis police officer was injured in a traffic accident Tuesday morning, January 14, on Shaw Avenue. The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. while the officer was responding to a call regarding a possible DUI driver near Shaw and Leonard avenues.
Police Officer Was Responding To A Call With No Sirens or Lights Activated
According to the Clovis Police Department, the officer was driving eastbound on Shaw Avenue with a green light, and no sirens or lights were activated. At the same time, a southbound driver on DeWolf Avenue, who was distracted while talking to a passenger, failed to stop for a red light and collided with the officer’s vehicle.
The officer was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities.
Police Are Still Investigating The Incident
The crash is still under investigation by the police department.
