Teens on Bikes Chased onto Chula Vista Golf Course by Driver; One Boy Hit
CHULA VISTA, CA (October 8, 2019) – Late in the afternoon on Monday, two teen boys on bicycles were chased by a driver onto a golf course in Chula Vista. One of the boys was struck in the October 7 incident, which occurred at East Lake Country Club, near Otay Lakes and Eastlake Parkway.
The time was roughly 5:45 p.m., Chula Vista Police said.
Reports say the two teens—identified as boys 14 and 15 years of age—tossed food at the vehicle of the driver in an area close to Masters Ridge Road and North Greenview Drive. According to reports, the teens fled on bicycles, and the driver chased after them.
The two boys rode their bicycles on the golf course greens, and the driver continued to follow. The vehicle is reported to have hit of the boys.
Officers arrested the driver—who was identified only as a man 41 years old—on suspicion of felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, child cruelty causing injury, and robbery. Reports do not say what was allegedly stolen. The driver’s name and city of residence have not been reported.
According to reports, no one was seriously hurt.
Investigators are collecting details and information regarding the incident.
