Collision Involving Construction Truck Kills Pedestrian, Injures Others in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA, CA (October 1, 2019) – On Monday afternoon in Chula Vista, a collision involving a construction truck killed a pedestrian and injured three others. The September 29 incident occurred on 4th Avenue in the 500 block, close to Shasta Street, according to police.

The time was roughly 1:15 p.m.

Reports say the driver lost control of the construction truck, for reasons that are not known. The vehicle struck cars that were parked on the street, one of which was a pickup truck. The force of the collision sent the pickup truck to hit a pedestrian, and then the pickup overturned.

Responders arrived and transported the pedestrian to a hospital. The injured person died in the hospital. The victim was identified only as 81 years old. The person’s name, gender, and city of residence have not been reported.

Three other people—a woman with her children, identified as a girl and an infant—had been inside a car that was parked when the crash occurred. Reports say they suffered injuries that were described as minor. Their names and city of residence have not been reported.

The identity of the driver of the construction truck has also not been reported.
