Car Smashes into Gas Station on Firestone Blvd. Following Collision in South Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 27, 2021) – Early in the morning on Thursday in South Los Angeles, a car crashed into gas station after a collision with another vehicle. The May 26 crash occurred on Firestone Boulevard in the 1400 block.
The time was roughly 3:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Two vehicles–which have not been described–collided, and the impact sent one of the cars to smash into the front of the convenience store at the Shell gas station. No details have been reported on the line of travel of each vehicle prior to colliding, nor how the crash occurred.
According to authorities, the people who had been traveling in the car that struck the gas station fled the scene on foot. The number of people who ran from the incident site is not known. The driver has not been described.
Responders from Los Angeles County Fire arrived on scene to help. One patient was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
The types of injuries the person suffered, and the current condition, are not known. The identity of the person has not been reported.
It is not known if the victim had been traveling in the other vehicle that was involved in the initial crash, or if the person had been inside the convenience store.
In order to assess the full extent of the damage to the building, L.A. County Building and Safety inspectors will examine the scene to learn if the gas station is structurally compromised.
Investigators are searching for the suspect hit-and-run driver. They are continuing to collect information about the incident.
