One Man Killed, Another Injured in Head-on Collision on Fifth Street Near Camarillo
CAMARILLO, CA (January 8, 2019) – One man died in a head-on crash on Fifth Street near Camarillo on Monday morning, and another was injured. The January 7 accident occurred close to where East Pleasant Valley Road and East Fifth Street intersect, near Camarillo Airport and to the south of it.
The time was roughly a bit before 6:20 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said that a vehicle—described as a Nissan pickup—had been heading west on Fifth Street. The Nissan—whose driver was described as a man 65 years old and a resident of Oxnard—went out of control and veered into the lane of traffic that was traveling in the opposite direction. The Nissan collided head-on with a vehicle described as a Ford F-250 pickup truck. The driver of the Ford was identified as a man 27 years old and a resident of Oxnard.
Respondents from the Ventura County Fire Department arrived on scene and pronounced the man who had been driving the Nissan deceased. Responders took the man who had been driving the Ford to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital. His injuries were described as minor.
The names of the people involved in the accident have not yet been reported. It has also not yet been reported if either vehicle had any passengers aboard at the time of the accident.
