Bus with 40 Children Hit by U-Haul

Vehicle accidents are not limited to just cars. Often times trucks and bus accidents also occur. Unfortunately for a group of people including kids, a tragic accident took place which ended in several personal injuries.
On Thursday, October 11, a bus full of children was involved in an accident. Filled with about 40 children the school bus was knocked to its side when a U-Haul truck backed into it. Sixteen children received minor personal injuries along with the bus driver. Two of the children had serious injuries but not life-threatening. The students were taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center to be checked up and looked over by a doctor. Ten other victims were transported to a hospital and four were treated and released at the scene of the incident.
The accident took place around 2 p.m. in the afternoon. The students were on their way home from Galileo Academy in Victorville, 60 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Driving at about 40 mph, the bus was carrying students ranging from ages 9 to 11. As the bus driver was moving along, another driver in a U-Haul was backing out of a driveway. He might not have noticed the bus and ended up slamming into the side of the vehicle.
The driver of the U-Haul was a mother and her daughter was helping direct her mom. While telling her mother where to go, there was a loss of communication and the female driver ended up slamming into the school bus. The driver tried to swerve left to avoid the crash but it was fruitless. The collision still occurred.
Striked by the rear end of the U-Haul, the school vehicle ended up spinning and rolling into its side. The fall ended up blocking both lanes of traffic.
Parents of the children were contacted soon after the event. Many came to the scene of the accident to pick up their children. Police officers are still investigating the scene.
