A police pursuit occurred Friday afternoon when a suspect went from Huntington Beach into Costa Mesa.
The pursuit started about 12:45 p.m. The Huntington Beach Police Department initiated the police pursuit. Police backed off of the pursuit as the suspect drove through busy city streets at a high rate of speed.
The suspect was driving a silver sedan. He continued at a high rate of speed before slowing to about 65 mph on the freeway as he headed into San Juan Capistrano around 1:15 p.m. The suspect was making an effort to evade the police.
The person was wanted for a misdemeanor probation violate that stemmed from a vehicle code violation, according to the police.
The police said they knew the person’s identity and would locate him at a later date.
The name of the suspect was not immediately known. It is not clear if he will be facing new charges stemming from Friday’s police pursuit. It also wasn’t clear what the suspect was on probation for either. No one was injured during the police pursuit that involved several city police departments even though it lasted less than an hour.
