Four Young Men Killed on 710 Freeway in High-Speed Collision in Bell Gardens Identified by Family
BELL GARDENS, CA (May 23, 2019) – Four young men—ranging in age from 20 to 25—died in a collision on the 710 Freeway early in the morning on Wednesday in the area of Bell Gardens. The May 22 incident occurred on the northbound side of the freeway, close to Firestone Boulevard and to the north of it.
The time was roughly 3:15 a.m.
Reports say family members identified the men who died. They were Hussein Saleh, Hussein Ghasham, Hussein Ayoub, and Hussein Saab. Two of the victims were cousins, and two of the men were friends of the family. A brother of one of the victims, reports say, had been driving a vehicle behind the vehicle that crashed, and saw it happen.
The four victims had been traveling in a BMW at a high rate of speed, reports say. According to the California Highway Patrol, the car went out of the driver’s control, swerved to the right, and smashed a guardrail and pole.
Officials were told by people who witnessed the incident that two vehicles had been racing before one of the vehicles crashed. That has not been confirmed by investigators. Investigators said that speed was a factor in the incident. The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to wrap the pole. Debris landed across the road, beside it, and in a house’s backyard that is located nearby.
The four victims died at the accident site. Each of the victims had been wearing a seat belt at the time the collision occurred.
