Man Identified as Person Killed by Hit-and-run Driver in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 14, 2019) – Authorities identified the victim killed in a hit-and-run crash on Friday as Omar Juarez Renteria. The November 8 incident occurred on Ming Avenue near South Chester Avenue, and to the east of it.
The time was roughly 6:30 p.m., according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Reports say Renteria had been walking in the street, not within a crosswalk, and a vehicle, which had been traveling east on Ming Avenue, struck him.
Responders transported Renteria to Kern Medical. He was pronounced deceased in the hospital. Renteria was 31 years old, and a resident of Bakersfield.
A photo released by the Bakersfield Police Department shows a vehicle that is suspected to have been involved in the crash. The vehicle is a four-door sedan, Pontiac G6, maroon or red in color. It will have damage to the windshield in front.
Investigators are seeking the vehicle and the suspect driver involved in the incident that killed Renteria. If anyone has information about the incident, the person should call Bakersfield Police. The number is 661-327-7111.
