Vehicle Crashes into Gas Main and Power Pole in Atascadero, Cutting Power to Hundreds
ATASCADERO, CA (August 13, 2019) – A vehicle crashed into a gas main and a power pole early in the morning on Monday in Atascadero, cutting power to hundreds of residents. The August 12 incident involved one vehicle, according to reports.
The time was roughly a little before 1:30 a.m.
Reports say a vehicle—which has not been described—crashed, but it is not known why the vehicle crashed. After the vehicle struck the gas main and power pole, a fire began to burn in vegetation at the crash site.
Responders from Atascadero Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. According to Atascadero Fire, the person who had been driving the vehicle was not hurt in the incident. The identity of the driver, including the person’s name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
According to the utility provider, PG&E, residents in the area of the crash lost power. The number of affected customers was 492. Crews worked until they restored power to area residents.
Investigators are continuing to gather information and details to understand why the crash happened. At this time, no other information is known regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash.
