Arrest Made In Long Beach Hit-And-Run

Posted on November 5, 2012 | Written By: iadminlaw

In California, pedestrians always have the right of way. When pedestrians walk across the street, they should look both ways to make sure that there are no cars coming their way. Unfortunately, there are many drivers who fail to see pedestrians. They also fail to yield to pedestrians. This causes problems for pedestrians because many die as a result of reckless drivers.

A Long Beach man was arrested in a hit-and-run incident that killed a pedestrian early Sunday morning on Pacific Coast Highway.

Robert Alleman, 48, of Long Beach was arrested about 1 p.m. Sunday at a residence in the 2700 block of E. Spaulding St. It is believed that it could possibly be his residence, but authorities aren’t yet sure.

Alleman was booked for vehicular manslaughter and held on $50,000 bail at the Long Beach City Jail.

Alleman is suspected in the killing of Adolfo Lopez-Perez, 37, of Long Beach. Lopez-Perez was walking south across Pacific Coast Highway, near Junipero Avenue but not in a crosswalk, about 12:45 a.m. when he was struck by a green 1997 Geo Prism driven by Alleman that was traveling east on Pacific Coast Highway.

Lopez-Perez died at the scene.

Officers located the abandoned Geo a few blocks away from the crime scene, near Temple Avenue and 17th Street.

Officers received a tip that Alleman was at the Spaulding Street address. He surrendered without incident.
