Car Crashes into Flower Shop on Las Tunas Drive in Arcadia, Killing Driver
ARCADIA, CA (August 8, 2019) – Early in the morning on Thursday, a car smashed into a flower shop located in Arcadia, killing the driver. The August 8 incident occurred on Las Tunas Drive close to where it intersects with Live Oak Avenue, according to Ernest Lopez. Lopez is a sergeant with the Arcadia Police Department.
The time was roughly 3:15 a.m.
Reports say the vehicle, which has not been described, was the only vehicle involved in the incident. According to a person who witnessed the crash, the vehicle had been going fast when it struck the divider in the center of the road. The vehicle then went out of the driver’s control.
The impact sent the vehicle in the air, and it then came down, sideways, and smashed into the building where the flower shop is located. According to reports, the vehicle entered Main Floral with nearly the entire front half inside the structure.
The driver was the only person who had been traveling in the vehicle. Responders pronounced him deceased at the accident site. His identity, including his name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The vehicle was reported to be a rental. No details are known regarding why the crash happened, and what circumstances played a role.
Investigators are continuing the work of gathering information.
