Car Slides on Black Ice on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley into Collision, Killing Woman
APPLE VALLEY, CA (December 2, 2019) – Early in the morning on Friday, a car traveling on Bear Valley Road in Apple Valley slid on black ice and collided with another vehicle, killing a woman. The November 29 incident occurred on a bridge that spans the Mojave River, near Jess Ranch Marketplace, and to the west of it.
The time was roughly 6:50 a.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said.
Reports say a vehicle—described as a Chevrolet Camaro, red in color—had been eastbound on Bear Valley Road when it traveled onto black ice. The car went out of the driver’s control, slid sideways into the lanes of opposing traffic, and into path of an oncoming vehicle. The other vehicle—described as a Toyota pickup—collided with the Camaro.
Responders arrived and transported a woman, who had been traveling in the Camaro as a passenger, to a hospital in the area. She died from her injuries. Her identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the Camaro suffered injuries that were described as minor. The driver’s identity, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The person who had been driving the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, according to reports. He was identified only as a resident of Lucerne Valley. His name had not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work to gather information about the crash.
