Police Car Collides with SUV in Anaheim While Responding to Road Rage Report
ANAHEIM, CA (March 24, 2020) – While responding to a call of a road rage incident, a police officer’s patrol car collided with an SUV in Anaheim. The March 23 incident occurred where Cerritos Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard intersect.
The time was roughly 8:00 p.m., according to Anaheim Police.
Reports say authorities received a call that a man who was driving a Toyota had held a gun in what may have been a instance of road rage in the vicinity of Ball Road and Anaheim Boulevard.
A police officer responded to the report in a patrol car with lights illuminated and sirens blaring, according to reports. In the area where Cerritos Avenue and Anaheim Boulevard intersect, the police car collided with an SUV.
Responders arrived and found the SUV—described as a Dodge Durango—had been struck on the driver’s side rear end. The police vehicle had damage to its front, and had gone onto the sidewalk in the area.
Responders transported the person who had been driving the Dodge to a hospital. The types of injuries the person suffered, and the current condition, are not known. The identity of the driver has not been reported, including name, age, gender, and city of residence.
The identity of the officer involved in the collision has also not been reported. It is not known if the officer was hurt in the crash.
According to Carringer, officers found the person who is suspected of the road rage incident in the area, and arrested him. He was identified as David Park, a resident of Fullerton, 42 years old. Park was arrested on suspicion of felony assault.
Reports say Park had a valid permit allowing him to carry a conceled weapon. He will not be charged for possessing the gun, reports say.
Investigators are continuing their work to collect details and information regarding the suspected road rage incident, and the collision.
