Hit-and-run Driver Injures Pedestrian During Street Takeover in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, CA (May 27, 2020) – Early in the morning on Tuesday in Anaheim, a pedestrian was injured by a hit-and-run driver during a street takeover. The May 26 incident occurred in the area of Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard.
The time was a little after midnight, according to Shane Carringer. Carringer is a sergeant with Anaheim Police.
Reports say fifteen or more vehicles were in the area, skidding in circles and screeching tires as they traveled by dozens of spectators. Officers arrived to stop the incident. Video from a surveillance camera captured a vehicle–described as a red coupe–leaving the site when officers came near.
According to reports, investigators think that the red coupe hit a person who had been standing in the road. Responders transported the injured man to the hospital.
The injuries he suffered were described as moderate. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run incident. It was described as possibly a Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ. The vehicle does not have a front license plate. The suspected hit-and-run driver has not been described.
