Car Smashes into Pole on I-5 in Anaheim, Killing Passenger, Injuring Driver
ANAHEIM, CA (July 29, 2020) – On Tuesday night in Anaheim, a passenger was killed and a driver was injured when the car they were traveling in smashed into a pole on I-5. The July 28 incident occurred in an area between Euclid Street and Brookhurst Street.
The time was roughly 7:40 p.m., according to Tim Sandifer. Sandifer is a battalion chief with Anaheim Fire and Rescue.
The vehicle–described as a Chevrolet sedan–smashed into a pole that holds a sign on the freeway. No details have been reported on why the crash happened.
Responders arrived and worked to extricate the people trapped in the wreckage of the crash. One of the victims, who had been traveling as a passenger, died at the incident site.
The victim was identified only as a man 19 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders transported the person who had been the driver of the vehicle to a trauma center for treatment. The patient was identified only as 26 years old. The person’s name, gender, and city of residence have not been reported.
The types of injuries the person suffered, and current condition, are not known.
Investigators are working on understand why the crash happened, and what factors may have contributed. They are gathering information and details.
