San Diego County Hit-and-run Crash in Alpine Seriously Injures Teen
ALPINE, CA (February 11, 2021) – Late in the morning on Wednesday, a teen was struck and seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in Alpine, located in east San Diego County. The February 10 incident occurred on South Grade Road close to Manzanita View Road.
The time was roughly 11:15 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
The pedestrian had been going along the edge of the roadway, reports say, and a vehicle–which has not been described–hit her from behind.
The driver did not stop the help the victim, but fled the crash site. The driver continued southbound, according to Travis Garrow. Garrow is a public-affairs officer with the California Highway Patrol.
Responders arrived and transported the patient to San Diego’s Sharp Memorial Hospital by airlift. She suffered injuries that were described as severe.
The victim was identified only as 19 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the suspect hit-and-run driver, and the vehicle involved. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can contact the California Highway Patrol. The number is 619-401-2000.
