Four vehicles and a semi-truck caused a traffic backup on the 405 Freeway southbound where it hits the Santa Monica Freeway or the 1-10 on Wednesday afternoon. The Los Angeles Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol were on the scene.
The crash happened around 1:09 p.m. on the 405 just north of the Venice Boulevard exit. The SigAlert was issued at 1:21 p.m.
The details of how the accident occurred are not completely clear yet. So far, a CHP officer has stated that a semi-truck collided with the right shoulder wall of the 405 Freeway on the southbound side. The other four vehicles that became involved are unclear. No one was trapped or needed an extraction according to LAFD spokespeople. Only one person is known to have been sent to the hospital due to injuries, but the level of their condition is unknown at this time. No further injuries have been reported. It is also unclear whether this injured person was a rider in a vehicle or the semi-truck.
