A child was killed in an accident on Friday in East Los Angeles. The crash involved multiple cars. A mini-van and two other vehicles collided on Whittier Boulevard and Gerhart Avenue around 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The fact that this was peak rush hour, the crash created quite a mess.
Apparently, two children, one aged 5 and one that is 10-years-old were inside the van riding as passengers. One of them died and the other is injured, but their condition is unknown at this time. It is unclear which child passed away.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol responded to the accident and helped at the scene of the crash.
It is not clear what caused the accident and how the children were injured and killed. Others may have been injured as well as there were 3 vehicles total involved in the crash.
The accident occurred on the corner of the intersection. It may have been caused or impeded by the intense traffic that crowds the streets around Los Angeles during the after 5 rush hour on Fridays. An investigation is necessary to figure out what actually took place to cause this horrific loss and traffic collision.
Police did not state whether or not drugs and alcohol were factors in the accident. They also have no released information on the survivors and their injuries or the extent of the vehicular damages.
