Hyundai is adding about 6,100 to a recall. The recall specifically involves the Veloster Hatchbacks, again. The reason they are
being recalled is because of faulty sun roofs. The sunroofs can shatter and fall on the driver and passengers while in the vehicles. In December, Hyundai announced that they would begin a recall on 13,500, 2012 Velosters for the same problems. Hyundai is currently claiming that sunroof assembly may be shattering because of problems with installations at the factory. The manufacturer has informed that at least five people have suffered injuries due to the Veloster’s sunroof shattering. Fortunately, there have been no crashes recorded involving the sunroof.
The problem was discovered in October. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation after receiving numerous complaints from drivers. These complaints also include Hyundai’s sister company, Kia.
It is Hyundai’s plan to begin informing owners. The dealers will be inspecting sunroofs and replacing them, free of charge. The recall is set to begin next month. For more information, or if you have any questions, you may contact Hyundai at (800) 633-5151 or contact your local Hyundai dealership.
