Vehicle Hits 13 Year Old Boy and Man in Hawthorne on El Segundo Blvd.; Boy Dies

HAWTHORNE, CA (January 9, 2023) – Early in the evening on Sunday in Hawthorne, a vehicle struck a boy and a man, killing the boy. The January 8 crash occurred where Truro Avenue and El Segundo Boulevard intersect.

The time was roughly 8:35 p.m., police said.
According to authorities, three pedestrians–identified as a girl, a boy, and a man had left a local Hawthorne, CA laundromat in the area and were walking across the street.
A vehicle–which was not been described–was traveling on El Segundo Boulevard and going eastbound. The vehicle struck the boy and the man.
Hawthorne first responders arrived to help, but the boy died from the injuries he suffered.
He was identified only as 12 or 13 years old.
Responders transported the man to a hospital. The types of injuries he suffered, and his current condition, are not known.
The patient’s identity–including name, age, and city of residence–have not been reported.
It is not known from reports if the three pedestrians were related to each other.
The girl has also not been identified.
The person who was driving the vehicle stayed at the crash site and cooperated with investigators.
