Driver Fleeing Police Pursuit Crashes Near Hawthorne on 105 Freeway
HAWTHORNE, CA (March 27, 2020) – On Thursday afternoon, a driver fleeing police pursuit crashed near Hawthorne on the 105 Freeway. The suspect was arrested in the March 26 incident, which occurred on the freeway’s westbound side.
Reports say the incident began at roughly 3:00 p.m., according to the Carson Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies attempted to pull a person over who appeared to be driving recklessly, according to reports.
The driver did not yield, and continued driving the vehicle—described as a minivan. The suspect went into South Los Angeles, traveling at a slow speed. Authorities continued to pursue the suspect, and a spike strip was used, which the suspect’s vehicle drove over.
The suspect continued to flee, going at a slow speed, on Los Angeles County roads and freeways. On the 105 Freeway westbound, the suspect’s vehicle crashed near Hawthorne, close to La Cienega Boulevard.
Authorities apprehended the suspect. It is not known if the person was hurt in the crash. The suspect’s name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
