Bakersfield, CA (July 18, 2023) – In the early hours of Friday morning, a devastating accident took place on July 14, resulting in the untimely death of Vielka Gerardo. The incident occurred around 1:18 a.m. on Highway 99 near Rosedale Highway, leaving the local community and authorities in a state of shock and mourning.
Vielka Gerardo Was Walking Along The Highway In Dark Clothing
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Vielka Gerardo, 52 years old, was walking northbound along the number three lane of the highway, wearing dark clothing. It was during this time that a 2023 Peterbilt semi-truck struck her, tragically ending her life.
Gerardo suffered fatal injuries and, despite the efforts of emergency responders, succumbed to her wounds at the scene of the accident. The Kern County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity and age.
