Big Rig Rollover on 710 Freeway Near Commerce Spills AntiFreeze; Causes Closure
COMMERCE, CA (November 15, 2018) – A big rig overturned on the 710 Freeway close to Commerce early in the morning on Thursday, causing a closure. The November 15 accident occurred on the southbound side of the freeway, a bit north of the 5 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol says.
The time was roughly 1:45 a.m.
Reports say the big rig rolled over, spilling antifreeze on the road surface. Authorities had to close the freeway for a number of hours.
According to Hector Placencia, who is an officer with CHP, the driver said he could not keep the vehicle in control, and the balance of the load shifted, which caused the rollover.
All lanes of the 710 Freeway southbound were closed. Officials diverted traffic from the 710 to the 5 Freeway.
Reports say the big rig was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The identity of the driver has not yet been reported. It is not known if the driver suffered any injuries due to the crash.
Investigators are examining the details from the accident to determine what caused it. No other information is currently available.
