Two Die in Suspected DUI Crash on Highway 43 In Shafter

Crash on Highway 43 Kills 2; DUI Suspected
SHAFTER, CA (June 26, 2018) – A crash in Shafter Tuesday evening, in which authorities suspect a DUI was involved killed two people.
The crash, occurring on Highway 43 at Burbank Street, happened roughly at 9:41 p.m.
The Honda, Traveling at a High Rate of Speed Made A Left Turn Before Being Hit
CHP reports that a Honda sedan was heading northbound on Highway 43, and then made a left turn onto the Colony Market. A white utility truck going southbound hit the rear of the Honda. The truck was reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed.
The collision threw two passengers from the Honda. Rescuers pronounced them dead at the scene. According to reports, the victims were not wearing seat belts.
Rescuers took the driver of the utility truck and the driver of the Honda sedan to the hospital.
According to the report, Shafter Police Officers said the truck’s driver was suspected to be driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Investigators are looking into the crash. Identities have not been released.
