Vehicles Strike Los Angeles Pedestrian in South Side; Victim was Shot
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 28, 2022) – Early in the morning on Thursday in South Los Angeles, two vehicles struck a man who had also been shot. The victim died in the July 28 incident, which occurred where East Vernon Avenue and Towne Avenue intersect.
The time was roughly 1:30 a.m., Los Angeles Police said.
According to authorities, the pedestrian was down on the ground when the first vehicle struck him. The person who was driving the vehicle left the crash site.
Neither the vehicle nor the driver has been described.
A second vehicle hit the victim, and the driver stayed on scene. The second vehicle has not been described and the driver has also not been identified.
Responders arrived to help, but the victim died. Reports say the coroner’s office found the victim had a gunshot wound in addition to being hit by the vehicles.
The person was identified only as in his twenties; his name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the hit-and-run driver and vehicle, and they are also collecting details and information regarding the shooting.
