Crash Seriously Injures Scooter Rider on Nobel Drive In University City, CA
UNIVERSITY CITY, CA (August 2, 2022) – Early in the afternoon on Monday in University City, a crash involving a car and a scooter injured the rider. The August 1 crash occurred on Nobel Drive in the 4100 block.
The time was roughly 2:19 p.m., John Buttle said. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
According to authorities, the person riding the scooter had been traveling east. The scooter rider made a turn when the arrow signal was red, and the scooter collided with a westbound Hyundai Elantra.
Responders transported the person who was riding the scooter to the hospital. The person suffered injuries that were described as life threatening, including broken bones and injuries to his face and head.
He was identified only as 47 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who was driving the Hyundai was not hurt in the crash, reports say.
She was identified only as 58 years old. Her name and city of residence are not known from reports.
Investigators are continuing to work on the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can contact police.
