Two People Injured in Skydiving Plane Crash in Oceanside, CA
OCEANSIDE, CA (February 25, 2022) – Early in the afternoon on Thursday in Oceanside, two people were injured when a skydiving plane crashed. The February 24 crash occurred close to Bob Maxwell Memorial Airfield, in the vicinity of Highway 76 and Foussat Road.
The time was roughly 12:50 p.m., according to Oceanside Fire and the Oceanside Police Department.
A plane–described as single-engine Cessna 208B–crashed near the airfield. Reports say GoJump Oceanside–a skydiving company–owns the plane.
No details are known regarding what led to the crash, or why the plane went down.
Responders transported two people who had been aboard the plane to a hospital in the area for treatment. According to Oceanside Police, one man suffered injuries that were described as critical.
The identity of the patient has not been reported.
The other man suffered injuries that were described as moderate. His identity has also not been reported.
The pilot has not been identified.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are conducting an investigation to find out why the plane crashed.
