2 Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-10 in Thousand Palms
THOUSAND PALMS, CA (February 4, 2025) – Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 10 near Washington Street, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The fatal collision occurred just after 1:00 p.m. when a white Toyota, traveling westbound, suddenly veered to the right and collided with a blue big rig. The impact caused the Toyota to crash into a red semi-truck, which was disabled on the right shoulder.

A white repair truck was parked in front of the broken-down semi, and its driver was actively working on the vehicle at the time of the crash. The blue big rig then continued forward, striking both the repair truck and its driver.
Carolina Navarrete De Leal of Coachella Was Identified As The Driver of the White Toyota
Both the Toyota driver and the maintenance repair worker died at the scene. They have been identified by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office as 49-year-old Carolina Navarrete De Leal of Coachella and 31-year-old Fabian Zamora of Indio.
Paramedics transported the blue big rig’s driver to Desert Regional Medical Center with injuries of unknown severity.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
