Fleeing Driver Crashes off 101 Freeway, Lands on Top of Vehicle in Tarzana
TARZANA, CA (March 25, 2021) – Early in the evening on Wednesday in Tarzana, a driver who was fleeing from officers crashed off of the 101 Freeway, and landed on top of a vehicle. The pursuit vehicle erupted in flames in the March 24 crash.
Officers began pursuing the driver after witnessing the person driving at a fast speed, according to Elizabeth Kravig. Kravig is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
The pursuit began at roughly 7:50 p.m., but reports do not described where the chase was initiated. The route of the chase has also not been described.
The vehicle driven by the suspect driver went over the side of the off-ramp for Tampa Avenue from the 101 Freeway, for reasons that are not known. The suspect driver’s vehicle came down on top of another vehicle in a parking lot, landing upside down. It erupted in flames.
Officers arrested the driver. It is not known if he was hurt in the crash.
The suspect driver’s identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
The owner of the vehicle that was struck has not been identified. The vehicle has not been described.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash.
