Suspect Fleeing Pursuit Crashes, Injures Officer, Woman, and Baby in Rancho Cucamonga, CA
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA (October 20, 2022) – Late at night on Wednesday, a suspect driver fleeing police pursuit crashed into vehicles, injuring a woman, toddler, and a police officer. The October 19 crash occurred on Archibald Avenue.
The time was roughly 11:45 p.m., Fontana Police said.
The incident began in Fontana, after a suspect driver failed to comply with officers’ attempts to pull the vehicle over. Reports say the vehicle was being pursued because authorities suspected the occupants were involved in thefts.
The suspect driver drove away from police, and authorities pursued. While the vehicles were traveling on the 10 Freeway, police allege, the suspects in the pursuit vehicle tossed a bicycle and other things at them.
Fontana Police allege that while traveling in Rancho Cucamonga on Archibald Avenue, the suspect driver executed a U-turn, and drove head on at police officers and other vehicles.
The suspect vehicle crashed head on with two other cars and a patrol vehicle, police allege.
Three occupants of the suspect vehicle fled the crash site on foot. They were later apprehended by authorities, reports say.
Responders transported an officer, a woman, and a toddler to the hospital. The types of injuries the patients suffered are not known.
No one involved in the incident has been identified, including name, age, and city of residence.
Investigators are in the process of collecting details and information regarding the incident.
