Car Accident Leads Motorcycle Rider Striking Woman Exiting Vehicle
SIMI VALLEY, CA (October 27, 2024) — A tragic accident on Highway 118 near Rocky Peak Road claimed the lives of two people early Sunday morning after a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the scene at approximately 6:05 a.m. Officers discovered a 33-year-old woman from Canoga Park and a 54-year-old man from Simi Valley, both with fatal injuries.
Woman Lost Control of Her Car And Crashed Into A Guardrail Before Exiting Car For Unknown Reasons
According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, the incident began when the woman lost control of her 2020 Nissan Altima, crashing into a guardrail for unknown reasons. Her vehicle struck the center median, and she exited the car, standing in the traffic lanes. Moments later, a 2020 Triumph motorcycle, ridden by the Simi Valley man, struck the woman, causing the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike and thrown onto the roadway.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims, pending notification of their families. Investigators have not determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
