SANTA BARBARA, CA (October 10, 2019) – One person was killed in the afternoon on Wednesday in Santa Barbara after being struck by an MTD bus. The October 9 incident occurred next to the bus terminal located at Chapala Street and Figueroa Street.
The time was roughly 2:15 p.m., according to Santa Barbara Police.
Reports say that people who witnessed the incident said the bus had been northbound on Chapala Street and then turned to the right to travel on Figueroa Street. According to reports, the bus continued to turn, and went onto the sidewalk.
The bus hit two pedestrians and then came to a stop when it hit four vehicles. One of the pedestrians was killed. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
