West Compton Woman Struck and Killed in Hit-and-run Crash on Avalon Blvd.
COMPTON, CA (April 11, 2022) – Late at night on Saturday in West Compton, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian. The victim was later identified as Sandra Flowers.
The April 9 crash occurred close to where Rosecrans Avenue and Avalon Boulevard intersect.
The time was roughly 11:40 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
Reports say that Flowers may have been walking across Avalon Boulevard in the middle of the street. A vehicle–which has not been described–struck her.
The driver did not stop and remain at the crash site, or offer help to the victim.
Responders pronounced Flowers deceased at the crash site. She was a resident of Compton, 64 years old.
Investigators are searching for the vehicle, and the suspect driver, who has also not been described.
If anyone has information about the crash, the person can call Officer J. Betz, who is with the South Los Angeles office of the California Highway Patrol.
