Head-on Crash Kills One, Injures Four Other People in San Marcos
SAN MARCOS, CA (January 10, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Sunday in San Marcos, a head-on crash killed one person and injured four others. The January 9 crash occurred on South Santa Fe Avenue in the 2700 block.
The time was roughly 4:08 p.m., the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
The vehicles involved in the crash were described as a Scion sedan and a Toyota minivan.
No details have been reported on the circumstances related to the crash.
Responders from the San Marcos Fire Department transported the person who had been driving the Scion to Palomar Medical Center. He was pronounced deceased in the hospital.
He was identified only as 56 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders transported four occupants who had been traveling in the minivan to Rady Children’s Hospital and Palomar Medical Center. The injuries the patients suffered were described as not life threatening.
The types of injuries the patients suffered, and their current condition, are not known.
None of the people have been identified.
Investigators are working to understand the crash and why it happened.
