Los Padres Inn of San Luis Obispo Struck by Pickup Truck
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (May 14, 2020) – The Los Padres Inn was damaged on Wednesday when a pickup truck smashed into it. The May 13 incident occurred on Monterey Street in the 1500 block.
The time was roughly 3:30 p.m.
Reports say the pickup smashed into and completely through a room at the hotel, and into a coffee shop, called The 4 Cats Cafe and Gallery.
Responders arrived and, according to reports, the driver was not injured in the crash. Authorities took the driver–identified only as a male–into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). His name, age, and city of residence have not been reported.
No one in the hotel was hurt in the crash, reports say. Crews shut gas to the hotel and coffee shop until the safety of the situation could be determined. Investigators are working to understand the incident, and they are gathering information.
The owners of the building and the businesses have not been identified in reports.
