SAN DIEGO, CA (September 6, 2018) – A collision involving a motorcyle and a car seriously injured a rider Wednesday night in the neighborhood of Grantville, according to police.
The accident occurred on Mission Gorge Road, a bit north of Twain Avenue. The time was roughly 7:40 p.m.
A car—described as a 2008 Volvo S40—tried to make a left turn onto Mission Gorge Road from the parking lot of El Pollo Loco, Officer Robert Heims said. Heims is with the San Diego Police.
As it was making the turn, the Volvo’s path crossed with a motorcycle—described as a 2016 Kawasaki—that had been heading north.
Heims said that the motorcycle and the Volvo collided. The person who had been riding the motorcycle suffered injuries that included a fractured wrist and femur. The motorcyclist was identified only as a 25 year old. The rider’s name was not yet reported.
Responders transported the injured rider to the hospital. The injuries, Heims said, were not expected to be life-threatening.
The person who had been driving the Volvo was not injured.
