Minivan Collides with Girl on Skateboard on Estrella Ave. in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 11, 2020) – Late in the afternoon on Wednesday in San Diego, a girl who was riding a skateboard was struck and injured in the City Heights neighborhood. The September 9 incident occurred on Estrella Avenue in the 4000 block, at the intersection with Polk Avenue.
The time was roughly a little before 5:30 p.m., according to San Diego Police.
The vehicle–described as a Toyota Sienna–had been traveling on Estrella Avenue and going north. When it went into the intersection, it collided with the girl who had plunged downhill on a skateboard on Polk Avenue.
Reports say the girl did not stop at the intersection.
Responders arrived and transported the girl to Rady Children’s Hospital. She is reported to have suffered injuries that were described as major, including a skull that was fractured, and a bleed on her brain.
Her current condition has not been reported. She was identified only as twelve years old.
The driver of the vehicle has not been identified in reports.
Investigators are continuing their work in gathering information regarding the crash.
