Man Identified as Victim Killed in San Diego Crash on Rancho Bernardo Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 8, 2020) – John Atcheson was identified as the victim who was killed in a crash in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego on Monday. The January 6 incident occurred where Rancho Bernardo Road and Meandro Drive intersect.
The time was roughly a little before 6:30 p.m., the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
Reports say Atcheson had been traveling on Meandro Drive in a Chevrolet Volt, and was making a turn onto Rancho Bernardo Road. A vehicle—described as a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck—which had been heading east on Rancho Bernardo Road, collided with his vehicle.
Responders arrived and transported Atcheson to Palomar Medical Center located in Escondido. Atcheson was pronounced deceased in the hospital. He was 71 years old.
Responders transported the person who had been driving the pickup truck to the hospital. She suffered injuries that included broken bones. Her current condition is not known.
She was identified only as 23 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work to understand the circumstances of the crash by collecting details and information.
