Two Young People Killed in San Diego Head-on Crash
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 23, 2021) – A head-on crash in San Diego near Kearney High School on Friday night caused fatal injuries to two drivers, who each died on Saturday. Haley Takeda, 21 years old, was the second person to be identified in the incident. Marc Anthony George III, 17 years old, was also identified in the incident.
The March 19 crash occurred in the Linda Vista area on Genesee Avenue. The time was roughly a little before 11:00 p.m., according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities said the vehicle Takeda was driving–described as a Mazda 3–was struck by the vehicle George had been driving–described as a Toyota Camry–head on. Reports say speed may have been a factor in the crash.
The crash occurred after a football game, when vehicles were leaving the area. The Toyota, and another vehicle–described as a Nissan–may have been traveling at a fast speed.
The Toyota went out of George’s control, reports say, and authorities allege the Toyota struck the Nissan in a side-swiping motion. The Toyota then struck the Mazda that Takeda had been driving head on, reports say.
Responders arrived and transported the victims to the hospital. Takeda died from her injuries on Saturday. She was a student at the University of San Diego.
George died from his injuries on Saturday. He was a high school student.
Seven other people were hurt in the crash. The victims have not been identified in reports.
Investigators are continuing to work on gathering information regarding the incident.
