Driver’s Car Backs and Smashes into San Carlos Neighbor’s Garage in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 7, 2019) – A driver’s car backed and smashed into the house of a neighbor on Sunday. The January 6 accident occurred in the San Carlos neighborhood of San Diego, on Mission Bonita Drive in the 7900 block.

The time was roughly a little after 12:00 p.m.

According to the driver, she had been in her vehicle—described as a new Mustang convertible—when it accelerated in reverse. The car kept going the entire way to the house located across the street from the driver’s house.

According to reports, the driver said she used the emergency break, but the vehicle continued to move. The car crashed into the neighbor’s garage door, shattering it, and a portion of the wall as well.

Reports say that when the crashed occurred, no one was at home. The person who was in the vehicle was not injured in the incident. Her husband saw the accident, and helped her from the wreckage.

It has not yet been reported what caused the crash. The driver’s name and age have not yet been reported. The name of the owners of the house where the garage and wall were damaged have not yet been reported.

Investigators are looking into the details to find out why the incident occurred.
