Pedestrian Struck and Killed While Crossing 215 Freeway in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (March 7, 2019) – A pedestrian who was crossing the 215 Freeway in San Bernardino early in the morning on Wednesday was struck and killed. The March 6 accident occurred in the lanes of the freeway that head south, close to 9th Street and to the north of it.
The time was 3:11 a.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian—identified as a man 39 years old and a resident of Lake Elsinore—had been walking on the freeway. A vehicle—described as a Chevrolet Express, white in color—struck him.
Respondents arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the accident scene. The person who had been driving the van—identified as a resident of San Bernardino—remained on site, according to Ivan Sandoval. Sandoval is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
The name of the victim has not been reported. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and notify the family before the victim’s name is released.
