Sacramento, CA (June 27, 2023) – A fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 99 in south Sacramento claimed the life of a man on Friday morning, June 23rd. The incident unfolded shortly after 8:00 a.m., just north of the Cosumnes River Boulevard on-ramp, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Man Was Killed Instantly When Attempting to Cross Major Highway
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the male pedestrian was struck by a moving van as he attempted to cross lanes on the northbound side of the highway before ultimately leaping over the center divider. The impact of the collision was substantial, causing severe injuries.
Within minutes of the incident, officers and paramedics swiftly arrived at the scene, only to discover the victim unresponsive. Despite immediate medical attention, tragically, the man’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
