EL MONTE, CA (June 3, 2021) – On Wednesday afternoon in El Monte, a woman was struck and seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash. The June 2 incident occurred on Cypress Avenue in the 4300 block.
The time was roughly 3:15 p.m., according to Christopher Cano. Cano is a lieutenant with El Monte Police.
People who witnessed the crash reported the incident to authorities. Responders arrived to help the victim.
They transported her to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were described as critical. Her current condition was described as stable. Her identity has not been reported.
Investigators located the suspect hit-and-run driver by a description of the vehicle from witnesses, and through surveillance footage captured by cameras.
Officers located the suspect at the suspect’s residence. The identity of the person as not been reported. Investigators are working to determine if the suspect was driving under the influence when the crash occurred.
