Driver Suspected of Striking Panhandler Intentionally in Palmdale
PALMDALE, CA (January 10, 2020) – A driver is suspected of intentionally striking a panhandler on Thursday in Palmdale. The January 9 incident occurred where Avenue O-8 and 10th Street intersect.
The time was roughly 1:15 p.m., according to the Los Angeles county Sheriff’s office.
Reports say that according to people who witnessed the incident, a person who was driving a vehicle—described as a BMW—was arguing with a panhandler while he stood by his car. According to reports, the driver got back into his car and the panhandler stood in front of the vehicle with his hands on the car’s hood.
Reports say the driver drove forward and hit the panhandler. The man went over the car’s hood and fell on the road.
Responders arrived and found the victim suffered injuries that were described as minor, according to Marvin Crowder. Crowder is a deputy with the sheriff’s office. The victim was identified only as in his 50s.
The driver fled the incident site, but deputies located the vehicle and the driver. They arrested the driver on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The driver was identified as Greg Sullivan.
Investigators are continuing their work on collecting details and information.
