Hit-and-run Crash in Pacific Beach Seriously Injures Bicyclist
PACIFIC BEACH, CA (April 20, 2021) – On Monday night in Pacific Beach, a bicyclist was seriously injured when she was struck by a hit-and-run driver. The April 19 incident occurred on Ingraham Street close to Fortuna Avenue, not far from Grand Avenue.
The time was roughly a little after 10:20 p.m., according to John Buttle. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
The bicyclist had been traveling on Ingraham Street and heading south. A vehicle–described as a four-door SUV, dark in color–rear-ended her. The force of the collision threw the bicyclist, and she came down on the ground.
The driver did not stop and remain at the crash site, or help the victim.
Responders arrived and found the injured woman on the roadway, face down. They transported her to a hospital.
According to Buttle, she suffered a skull that is fractured, and a major brain bleed.
Her injuries are considered life threatening. The victim was identified only as 39 years old. Her name and city of residence have not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the vehicle involved, and the suspect driver, who has not been described.
