Street Racing Suspected When One Killed and Three Injured in Five-vehicle Crash in Reseda
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 24, 2021) – On Sunday night in Reseda, one person was killed and three were injured in a crash in which street racing is suspected. The May 23 crash involved five vehicles, which occurred on Corbin Avenue, to the north of where Saticoy Street is located.
The time was roughly a little after 8:00 p.m., Los Angeles Police said.
Two cars, which have not been described, are suspected to have been racing on Corbin Avenue, according to Los Angeles Police, and a collision occurred. Drivers who were not a part of the race were affected, and spun out and struck vehicles that were parked on the street.
A utility pole was also struck. Police said the crash damaged as many as nine vehicles, including those that had been parked.
None of the vehicles have been described. The sequence of the way each vehicle crashed has not been described.
A fire erupted in the crash, which was recorded by a surveillance camera. Reports do not say which vehicle caught on fire.
Responders arrived and found one person was killed in the crash. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Responders worked to free a person who was trapped in wreckage. They transported two people to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Their current condition is not known. They have not been identified.
One other person was reported to have been hurt in the incident, but the types of injuries the person suffered is not known. The person has not been identified.
None of the drivers has been identified in reports. None of the owners of the parked vehicles has been identified.
Reports say many of the vehicles involved in the incident were severely damaged. Investigators are working to collect information about the crash.
