Semi Truck Strikes and Kills Man In Fresno
FRESNO, CA (October 9, 2024) – A man was struck and killed by a semi-truck on Highway 99 near McKinley Avenue in Fresno early Wednesday morning, October 9.
The incident occurred shortly after 4:00 a.m. when the victim, who was walking naked on the highway, entered the path of a northbound semi-truck, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The 51-year-old truck driver attempted to swerve to avoid the pedestrian but was unable to do so, and the truck struck the man.
Authorities Pronounced The Male Victim Dead At The Scene
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.
The driver of the semi remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. CHP confirmed that drugs or alcohol were not factors for the driver, but it is unclear whether the victim was under the influence.
The investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
