Motorcycle Crash Seriously Injures Rider on I-15 in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, CA (May 14, 2021) – A man riding a motorcycle was injured in Escondido on Thursday morning when he crashed, and the motorcycle landed on top of him. The May 13 incident occurred on I-15 on the southbound side of the roadway, near State Route 78 and to the north of it.
The time was roughly 7:45 a.m., according to Mark Latulippe. Latulippe is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.
The rider had been traveling in the farthest left lane. Traffic slowed abruptly, reports say, and the motorcyclist’s brakes locked when attempting to slow.
The motorcycle went over, and the rider fell onto the road and slid into the divider in the center of the roadway. The motorcycle landed on top of the rider.
Good Samaritans stopped, and went to help the rider. The people lifted the motorcycle off of the downed rider. The rider suffered injuries that were described as serious, reports say.
Responders arrived and transported the injured man to Palomar Hospital. The injuries he suffered included a number of bones that were broken. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing to work on the incident.
