Moorpark Crash involving Car and Ambulance Kills One Person

MOORPARK, CA (May 6, 2021) – Late at night on Tuesday in Moorpark, an ambulance and a car collided, killing one person. The May 4 incident occurred on the 118 Freeway.

The time was roughly 10:15 p.m., according to Casey Oppelt. Oppelt is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.

A vehicle–which has not been described–had been heading west on the freeway. According to reports, authorities suspect the car swerved in front of where the ambulance had been traveling, and the vehicles struck each other.

Responders arrived and pronounced the person who had been driving the car deceased at the crash site. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

Responders transported the person who had been driving the ambulance to a hospital in the area. The types of injuries the person suffered, and current condition, are not known.

The identity of the ambulance driver has not been reported.

Investigators are working on the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can call the Moorpark station of the California Highway Patrol. The number is 805-553-0800.
